A Muslim girl I know who doesn’t exactly live a halal lifestyle posted this on Instagram. Edited image to erase her name and address. Printed this out and mailed it to her. Used a relative’s house in another county for address and a hockey player’s name. Dropped it in a postal box. A couple days after, she deleted this post on Instagram.

I haven’t the faintest fucking clue what any of this means. What point are you making?

all I know is this makes me glad that:

- I’m not a kid growing up in this world

- I don’t have kids

- I will never have kids

I once sent someone a picture of their house from google maps because they posted their address online. I then sent them a package of candy cigarettes in the mail. They didn’t seem to care except they were sad they were not real cigarettes, teenagers.

People of my generation that invented the technology that makes social media possible like to point out how kids these days are so media savvy. But, that’s just in how to use it. It ignores the incredible blind spot these young people have. They just don’t seem to get that, even though what you post in the privacy of your cozy little room seems like it’s between you and your closest buds, it’s really out there for everyone to see. We are failing our kids as a society.

Are you a friend of hers? Are you going to let her know it was you?

I could see something like this really scaring her... I get the point of what you’re trying to tell her and that you’re actually trying to get her to protect herself and her privacy, but seems like this could actually give her some semi-permanent mental anguish and have her concerned someone out there might want to hurt her...

Gotcha.

I’m definitely like you when it comes to privacy. I wish the U.S. would have protections in place for our personal privacy like Germany and some other countries do. As it stands, it’s way too easy to know way to much about any certain individual, even without a search warrant.

But no one gets a share of the profit from it.
